Traveling can be expensive. But there are some ways to save money when traveling. Try some of the advice below on your next vacation and your wallet will thank you.

Look for city tourism cards. With the card, you can pay less at restaurants and shops. You don't have to wait for a long time at busy attractions. You might even get free tickets to toptourist attractions. City tourism cards can save your money and time without question.

Don't get the best room. How long will you stay in your room? Will you just be sleeping there? Do you really need a bigger room with a good view (景色)?

Find a hotel outside a city. It can help you save some money by choosing a hotel away from big tourist attractions, for you are always doing the same — go to the attractions and then return to your hotel to sleep.

Book (预订) a room with a kitchen. Although some people might not like to cook while on vacation, I don't mind making breakfast in my room. We always eat at a nice restaurant on our last night of the vacation. I'd rather eat breakfast and lunch at the hotel and then spend much money on a delicious supper.

With 19:40 on the clock in the first half of the University of Vermont's match-up against Albany in March, Josh Speidel caught a pass and scored. The crowd went wild, and the coaches and players of both teams hugged Josh. Josh announced, "I did it! I'm a college basketball player!"

Four weeks later, Josh proved them right. Not only did he learn to walk and talk again, soon he was even working out. But the goal of playing basketball was a driving force in Josh's recovery.

Just a year and a half after the accident, he headed off to Burlington, Vermont to start college. With periodic arm tremors and short-term memory loss, Josh knew he would never play for UVM, but he watched every practice from the sideline sand became an important part of the team. UVMs associate head coach Kyle Cieplicki, who'd been Josh's lead recruiter, said, "He's shown the whole team how to handle adversity."

Now 24, Josh will graduate from UVM in May with a 3.4 GPA. He's majoring in education and social services, and plans to work with kids. Josh tells people who are struggling with their own challenges," Always have a goal in your head and chase after it as hard as you can. And whenever you need help, ask."

Growing pains and gains

It's not easy to grow up. Actually it's far from easy. Growing up can be a real "pain" for some of us. We are always doing things that someone else makes us do and aren't allowed to do all the things we like. Sometimes we feel stuck, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don't understand why we can't stay young forever. When we look back on all the challenges in life with a positive attitude, we realize that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains!

As a young girl my parents forced my sisters and me to do so many things that I never liked. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music, just because it was what they wanted me to do. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched my life in so many ways. I realize that my parents and teachers were always pushing me along. not because they wanted me to suffer(受苦)but because they wanted me to succeed in life. They've always wanted me to have a better life than they did themselves.

Every moment of our lives is either living or dying, so live life to its fullest! We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just small pains in life. They might seem so huge at the time but we must be strong. Think about how we would feel if we had no fear and live life like that. The future is ours!

A little hard work and sweat never hurt anyone! If we realize that these pains are just small bumps(凸块)on our road to success we will realize that our growing pains are actually growing gains!

Many educators fear students will use the artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT to write their reports or cheat on homework. But other teachers are including it in the classroom.

Donnie Piercey is a teacher in Lexington, Kentucky. He told his 5th-grade students to try and beat the tool that was creating writing tasks. Piercey says his job is to prepare students for a world where knowledge of Al will be required. He describes ChatGPT as just the newest technology in his 17 years of teaching that caused worry about the possibility of cheating."As educators, we haven't worked out the best way to use AI yet," he added. "But it's coming, whether we want it to or not."

One lesson in his class was a writing game between students and the machine.

Piercey asked students to "Find the Bot". Each student wrote a short report about boxer Muhammad Ali. Then they tried to find out which was written by ChatGPT.

After playing "Find the Bot", Piercey asked his class what skills it helped them learn."How to properly summarize and correctly capitalize words and use commas." said one student. Another student felt that sentences written by students "have a little more feeling... more flavor." Students Laksi and McCormick, both 10, said they could see the good and bad parts of working with chat bots. They can help students who have trouble putting their thoughts into writing. McCormick said students could use it for suggestions, but should not use it to do all the work. "You shouldn't take advantage of it," McCormick said, "You're not learning anything if you type in what you want, and then it gives you the answer."

The secret powers of time

Do you think about the past?  Or do you worry about the future? Professor Philip Zimbardo describes three types (类型) of people.

● Past types.

You sometimes miss "the good old days". . You worry about making changes or new things trying You spend a lot of time with your family.

● Present types.

. You like doing fun things with fun people. You don't have a healthy lifestyle(生活方式). You avoid doing difficult or boring things.

● .

You spend most of your time working, saving and planning for a better future. You eat well and exercise regularly. You don't mind waiting for the good things in life. . But they often don't enjoy their free time because they are busy thinking about the next things.

According to Zimbardo's research, everybody is sometimes the other types. However, we should try to have an equal balance of all three to be happy and successful.

The big day finally arrived: my first day at senior high! The campus was still quiet when I arrived early, so I decided to1 a bit. 

"2 here?" Turning around, I saw a man in his forties. "Yes," I replied. "I was wondering what life is going to be like here." "Don't worry," he gave me a smile. "You'll soon 3 ."

How to Learn English Efficiently

My sister, Mary, and I were quite different. In my eyes, Mary was quiet and, maybe, cold.

My parents ran a chicken farm. Since my parents were busy with other farm work, I offered to clean the chicken house, on the weekend and each school day after I returned home. It surely wasn't fun for me, but I was happy to lend a hand. More importantly, the 20 dollars my parents promised me for the job meant much to me, with which I could afford my favorite books and CDs.

Cleaning the dirty chicken house was really a challenge for a 12-year-old like me. For several times, when I stopped by Mary's room, I knocked at her door and asked whether she would help clean the chicken house However, I got "No" each time. She was indeed cold, I said to myself.

One Saturday, I came back home late due to a class outing. I was anxious and I hated to see the tired and disappointed look on Dad's face! Luckily, Dad hadn't come back yet.
