The best beaches in Zanzibar

This archipelago, located on the east coast of Africa, is known for clear waters and white sands. Here are our favorites. 

Nungwi Beach

This beach is located in the north of the island. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar. If you like swimming, you will really enjoy yourself here. But be careful with the tides( 潮 汐 ) , because they can rise very fast and catch you. If you stay until sunset, you will be able to see an attractive one. 

Paje Beach

It is in the east of the island and is famous for strong tides. You can also practice water sports such as kitesurfing( 风 筝 冲 浪 ) , because this beach is known as one of the best in the world for this activity. Don't worry about the food, as here you will find a great varicty of restaurants with local and international dishes for all tastes. 

Jambiani

Jambiani beach, one of the farthest beaches, is located southeast of the island. You can walk for miles to the sea, which is a real wonder, but do when the tide goes out. It is a very quiet and uncrowded beach. 

Kiwengwa Beach

It is located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar. where the tides are strong and the water is warm. clean and clear. In the town of the same name, there are a lot of nightclubs, so it is a noisy but fun beach. 

Only six days ago I moved into my new home at Western University in London, Ontario. When moving to a new place, people have a variety of feelings. However, I surprisingly didn't feel nervous. I was so excited to make new friends and started doing what I was interested in. 

What was really interesting about my move-in experience was that I was forced to talk to new people. None of my close friends from home went to Western University, so I had to make new friends. I felt alone, but I knew something positive( 积 极 的 ) was coming. At first it was very worrying. I felt so alone in a sea of people that I didn't know. After being there for five minutes, I quickly realized that everyone was in the same situation as me. It was comfortable when senior students reminded us that whatever feelings we were having, the people around us were feeling the same way. We were not alone. 

My first dinner with my floor-mates less than a week ago was possibly one of the most awkward experiences I have ever had. Siting down and eating with a group of strangers can be really worrying but now I can say that everyone on my floor has become very close. What I have learned is that it takes time to adapt to being in a new environment. The first night was hard but within 24 hours, I made a lot of new friends. It was so much fun. 

Starting at a new school can be hard but you should bravely face the challenges in front of you. Get out there, make new friends and stay positive!

Are you tired of leaving your apartment only to find it starts raining minutes later? Or are you always buying umbrellas and leaving them under tables in restaurants? Now there is a new umbrella that can solve both of those problems. 

Oombrella, a smart umbrella from Paris-based Wezzoo. started a move on Kickstarter Thursday to bring the clever invention to life. The research team behind it says that the umbrella will tell you through an app on your smartphone if it is going to rain in the next 15 minutes as well as let you know on your phone if you have left it behind. The product also collects weather data(数据 )on the go—such as temperature, pressure and light. Intended to be strong in windy conditions, the Oombrella can protect you from rainstorms or snowstorms. 

For people who already have a favorite umbrella, Oombrella is also fixing a sensor-packed( 装 ) 有传感器的)device that attaches to any umbrella, turning it into a smart umbrella. However. such a smart umbrella is not cheap at all. Even a super-early-bird offer will cost you at least e59 (S66). while the device-only choice is e29(S32). At the same time, there are three designs(设计)to choose from: white, black or shiny. 

Last month. the umbrella company Davek brought its Davek Alert Umbrella to the market (after a successful Kickstarter move a year ago). Priced at $125. it has a Bluetooth. which lets you know before you leave your umbrella behind. 

Two years ago Lucy was saved from a rural area in New South Wales, Australia. Today, she is one of the lucky animals living in rows of trees that have been created to protect koalas and other animals by saving their smaller and smaller habitat(栖息地) , or natural environment. 

The trees, planted by the local protection group Bangalow Koalas, are made up of large systems of plants. They are a lifeline for koalas and other animals. All of them are in danger of dying out, or at risk of extinction. The trees provide a safe way across the koala's increasingly broken habitat. This protects koalas from human threats( 威 胁 ) "Our trees are actually trying to get them away from humans, cars and dogs. "said Linda Sparrow. President of Bangalow Koalas.

The koala is expected to die out in the wild in New South Wales by 2050. Some of the biggest threats include wildfires and habitat loss through land clearing for development. 

Bangalow Koalas has planted over 336, 000 trees on 119 areas, helping koala protection and improving the local ecosystem(生态系统) . The group. which depends on community volunteers. aims to plant 500, 000 trees by 2025. "The neighbor would want to join and then another neighbor would want to join. "Sparrow said. Volunteer Lindy Stacker. who has been planting trees for over five years.

A recent report by the Australian Koala Foundation said the animal was worth about S3. 2 billion per year to the tourism industry. However. the World Wildlife Fund-Australia reported a drop in koala populations in Australian states. "I can't imagine a world where there's no koalas in the wild. " Sparrow said. "We're going to do our best to make sure that doesn't happen."

Calling someone your partner sounds wonderful, but it becomes even more enjoyable when that person is also your best friend. Here are five things that happen when your partner is your best friend. 

Make each other laugh.  Because you understand each other's sense of humor, you enjoy bringing it out. Laughter lights up the worst of days. Best friends don't laugh at each other, but they laugh with one another. 

Cheer for each other. We all need our own personal cheer leader. Having someone who believes the best in us helps us to know the best in ourselves. Real friends realize our advantages even when we don't. 

Bring out the best in each other. Some people show best parts of themselves while others can bring out the best in you.  Something about their presence makes you want to be better people. 

 We all have parts living inside us somewhere. Many of us hide this part of ourselves. When you bravely reveal( 展 示 )these pieces of yourself, you show how much you want to develop a closer friendship. If you find out that your partner accepts your hidden side, you will trust them more. This real friendship draws you closer to one another. 

Lend a helping hand. Good friends come together to lend a helping hand. They see the need and help to meet the need.  Or occasionally they help you get more fun while you rest.

Thanks to a brave group of strangers, a terrible accident was avoided. A 1 behind the wheel of a truck suddenly collapsed(晕倒). Vicky was a first-grade student in a primary school, but she did not feel happy there. Her parents wanted to cheer her up, so they sent her to start her second grade in a primary school nearby. She felt quite happy and wanted to make some new friends. However, she made a mistake. She wanted to become so popular that she ioined a group of students at school, but not in the right way. 

Jenny, who was very nice at the beginning, became Vicky's best friend. But Vicky did not realize that by joining up with her, she would suffer a lot later. 

Jenny always acted in a proud and unpleasant wav. showing little thought for others. She did not want Vicky to have other friends. Jenny also enjoyed talking about others' private lives. Vicky started to change as soon as she met Jenny. Her personality was not as sweet as before any more. 

Time went by slowly. Vicky's marks began to go down. Things got even worse. She hardly had any friends and she didn't care about her friends at all. either. She always talked to her classmates in an impolite way instead of being nice. 

After all that suffering, the day at last arrived when one of her classmates told her that Jenny was not going to be in the school next year as she was moving. Vicky said nothing but in fact did not believe it. 

However, on the last day at school Jenny told Vicky that she was leaving. Instead of having a happy parting( 分 手 ) , Jenny told her that she never felt that Vicky was her true friend. 

Vicky was quite surprised when she heard the news and started crying. When holiday was over, Vicky went back to school. telling herself that all the bad times she had suffered last year with Jenny were over, too. But she found out that her classmates had not forgotten her bad acts.
