Jazz

Jazz includes movements from both classical ballet and dance techniques. This class will focus on traditional Jazz dance. Students will be introduced to jazz-style rhythms and movements. In order to ensure proper placement for your child, we invite all students to participate in a sample（示例）class. Students and parents work with program staff to meet students' personal dance goals.

Hip Hop

Students will be introduced to several different aspects of hip hop dance including Popping, Locking, Breaking and Tutting in a high-energy environment. Our hip hop instructors are highly knowledgeable and will provide students with a wonderful view of hip hop dance.

It was the 9th day of Wuhan lockdown （封锁） starting on January 23. My parents left because they had been running fever for several days and they were showing other symptoms of COVID-19.

The virus, COVID-19, is somehow fearsome because it does not discriminate（区别对待）in choosing who it infects. And if the older people were infected, the situation could be worse, so I was wondering whether my parents wouldmake it.

On the second day, my parents called and asked me how I was. We talked using FaceTime, and the moment I saw my mom lying there with an oxygen mask and my dad could not talk without breathing heavily, I realized that I had to live on my own.

But two weeks later, I got a fever and had to go into quarantine（隔离）to be observed for 14 days. Fortunately, my illness turned out to be not COVID-19.

Everything there was busy, and there seemed to be a shortage of medical staff and materials were in short supply. Even though the doctors and nurses were covered from head to toe, I could see how tired they were when I looked into their bloodshot eyes. Most of the patients were really understanding, but of course there were those who were not, and complained loudly, but all the doctors and nurses tried their best to deal with it in a calming way.

When the quarantine was over, every patient thanked the workers for what they had done, but the answer patients received was exactly the same: "That's what we're here for. "

In many ways, my interest in language learning began with my grandmother. She moved from Switzerland to England when she was young and I was always amazed that she spoke English to me, Italian to my grandfather and French or German on the phone to her relatives and friends. I always imagined she could be a translator of books, or a tour guide. What's more, she didn't learn English at school, but picked it up by herself when she came to England.

It's hard for me to understand how someone can speak several languages so well. I can just speak a bit of Italian and German by listening to her. And I hardly use other languages in my own job. But that doesn't mean I don't want to learn other languages. In my eyes, being able to ask for a meal in a restaurant on holiday in a non-English speaking country would be great. Most important of all, it would be nice to talk with people from around the world-it would be easier to make new friends if I spoke their language. In fact, language learning is easier now than ever because of new technology. For example, recording your voice helps you see how well you're doing and helps you continue to improve. There are apps to help you learn new words. However, I still think going to class improves conversation skills and helps you quickly deal with mistakes. So it's better to combine （结合） different methods.

Salad seeds（生菜种子）that went on a round trip to outer space and back grew at a slightly slower rate than the ones on earth, scientists found, thanks to thousands of young people who helped conduct an out-of-this-world experiment.

The project started in 2015, when British astronaut Tim Peake took a million seeds with him on his journey to the International Space Station （ISS）. The seeds spent six months there before they were sent back to Earth in 2016. In a message sent from the ISS, Peake said the purpose of the science experiment was to find out if the conditions in space affected the seeds' ability to grow.

Around 600, 000 pupils at 8, 600 schools in the UK were then asked to grow the rocket seeds that had been to space, along with regular seeds that had never left the planet. Peake described the experiment as "one of the largest and most inspirational experiments of its kind".

The results of the study, which have just been published, found that the space seeds grew more slowly than the ones that had stayed on Earth. Researchers on the experiment said this was due to the stresses of space travel, such as the zero-gravity（零重力）atmosphere and high levels of cosmic rays （宇宙射线）, which slowed the growth of the plants.

Now researchers are hopeful that if the seeds are properly protected, it might be possible to grow plants during future space tasks to other planets. Dr Jake Chandler, from University of London, who led the study, said, "The possibility of eating home-grown salad on Mars may be one small step closer. "
