With the rapid development of technology, mobile phones have become a must in people's life. Some students even become addicted(上瘾的) to mobile phones. However, according to a notice from the Ministry of Education(MOE, 教育部), primary and secondary school students will not be allowed to bring mobile phones to school.

Parents need to hand in a written application(申请) if their children do need to bring mobile phones to school. And students should hand in their phones to the school. The phones will be kept together in the teachers' office and should by no means be allowed into classrooms during school time. The widespread use of mobile phones have gotten in the way of the school management(管理) and students' development, the notice said.

Schools should make rules for the management of mobile phones and designate(指派)people to keep the mobile phones brought to school, it said.

Schools should not assign(布置) or ask students to do homework on mobile phones and they should set up public phones and teacher hot lines for communication between parents and students, it added.

Parents warmly welcome the notice. Ms. Liu, a mother of two boys, said, "Every week, my kids and I argued about whether to take their mobile phones to school. But after the notice came out, the argument disappeared."

The notice is also supported by teachers. A principal of a middle school told the reporter, "Now we have rules to follow. That makes our job a lot easier."
