Ten-year-old Julia and her nine-month-old dog Walter are an unusual pair. Both of (they) have been deaf since birth, and Julia communicates with Walter by (teach) him sign language.
Julia's family adopted (领养)Walter from the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA in California. Julia and her mother fell in love the little dog the first time they saw him. "When I first held Julia, since she couldn't really hear my voice, she would smell my neck. The first time I picked up Walter, he smelled my neck—the exact same way Julia had done as baby," Julia's mother said. "I looked at him and I just (know) he was meant to be ours."
