My favourite book is The Adventure of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. Tom lives with his aunt Polly in a quiet street of St. Petersburg, Missouri. He's a lively and clever young boy, and he finds himself in many exciting adventures. He runs away with his two friends, Huck Finn and Joe, to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River for several days.

With Huck he goes looking for treasure, with Becky he gets lost in a cave. And finally, they find a box of gold.

My favourite scene in the book is when everyone thinks Tom is dead. He decides to go to his own funeral. He hides and watches for a time and then suddenly he appears. Everyone is astonished to see him but they're also pleased to see him alive.

Tom is the hero of the story, but there are other important characters. Huck is an outsider and everyone is afraid of him. Becky is pretty with fair hair. Joe is Tom's best friend. And Injun Joe is the bad man of the story.

The theme of the story is about children growing up. It describes how strangers are seen in small towns of America. Finally, it talks about freedom, social rules and how people are punished for bad behaviour.

Why do I think The Adventure of Tom Sawyer is a great book?  Mark Twain wrote the story in 1876, but it's still read and loved by people all over the world today. And although it's only a story, Twain wrote it in the everyday English of the southern states of America in the 19th century, so it sounds very real. Today it's thought to be one of the greatest books in American literature. Go on—read it!   I know you'll enjoy it, too.

Germans have a word wanderlust which translated into English would be "the desire to wander". Nowadays the chance to travel is endless. Thanks to cheap air tickets, travelling abroad is very easy and sometimes it's even cheaper to fly out of the country than to travel within your own. So, yes, travelling is cheap but there have to be other reasons to travel and you've right, there are plenty!

I have always had this feeling of wanderlust. It started from me wanting to explore my local woods at the back of my garden as a young girl and as I have grown, so has my sense of adventure. And I found my local woods being replaced with the Brazil wetland, Pantanal, where I went last summer in search of jaguars, snakes and crocodiles. The thing with travelling is it's always different. Even if you went to the same country, to the same town and stayed in the exact same hotel it would be a completely different experience. The people you meet will be different, and they will tell you their own travelling stories:  stories of holiday romance, holiday worries and stories that seem sooutrageousthat you can hardly believe them until something similar happens to you.

Or maybe the difference is you? Maybe you have changed since last time you were there? And that's the thing with travelling—it changes you. When you travel you are forced to experience a new culture. Whether it's eating guinea pig, or staying with a family where neither of you speak a common language and you have to communicate through hand actions and smiles, the experience gives me itchy feet to doitall again. And although wanderlust is a German word, the English idiom "to have itchy feet" has a similar idea. Someone who has itchy feet needs to leave or travel. This desire to explore is found not only in language but in us.

I have been a huge fan of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies since the first one. While I was disappointed with the second and third movies, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed On Stranger Tides. The fourth movie is more focused on the characters and many parts reminded me of the first movie in the series, The Curse of the Black Pearl.

On Stranger Tides begins in London, where Jack has lost the hope of finding the Fountain of Youth. However, when he learns that the Spanish and British are racing each other to the fountain, his sense of adventure is renewed. He sets sail and the exciting race to the fountain follows. Because the plot is based on a race, it stays focused and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I think this was a great change from the plots of Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. In this movie the characters are heading for a clear goal and I could focus more on them than what was happening in the plot.

While I missed some of the old characters, like Will and Elizabeth, I was also glad that they weren't brought back for this movie because I think it would have made the plot too complicated (复杂的). The only character I wish I had seen more is Jack Sparrow's father, played by Keith Richards. I expected more of Sparrow's past to be shown in this movie because there had been hints (暗示) of his dark past in the other movies.

My favorite part is the ending because there is a direct tie to the first movie when someone ends up getting left helpless on an island. I love this part because it reminds me of why I fell in love with Pirates of the Caribbean in the first place.

When I was five years old, my parents would have to pull me home from yet another painful English vacation. I still didn't want to leave. I want to be away from home. I wanted to go somewhere new and exciting. This became the theme of the next twenty years. I'd spend the whole year counting down to my next holiday, and then as soon as I left I'd begin todreadhaving to return home, year after year.

Ten years ago, I decided to build a life that I didn't want to escape from. I knew I wanted to travel in the long term, but I didn't have a lot of money or savings, and there is no one paying for my adventures. For five years, I did three jobs while studying full-time at university. I didn't eat out and I didn't buy anything I didn't need. I even moved in with my parents. I was able to save $16,000 over those five years, which was enough to keep me on the road for a couple of years.

But what if two years wouldn't be enough? Before leaving, I began to spend my time in making plans that would allow me to work anywhere that had an Internet connection. At the time, I was studying for a master degree in physics. While studying, I came up with a list of my interests and skills and began researching into a way to do these anywhere. If I could make money from it and if I could do it online, then it was something worth going after.

I created a writing file that would help me to find free writing jobs. I researched English and physics teaching online, and built travel websites to earn income through sales and advertising. Most of these failed, but I didn't give up.

The work I do has changed over the years and it's still changing now. Now, I pay my traveling through several different things. I'm the Student Travel Expert for About. com, and a senior writer for Too Many Adapters, a travel technology website. In addition, I will have my first book published this summer. I also offer a travel planning service to help readers prepare for their travels abroad.

To reach this point, where I can cover my expenses and travel full-time, took many, many years of hard work. For me, the freedom makes it worth it. With everything set in place, finally my dreams came true.
