Suma Rifai is a woman with lots of responsibility. She has raised two children on her own, and now helps care her aging parents and her dogs. But she has always wanted to learn. Now, at age 55, she's a student at the University for Seniors (UfS) in Beirut, Lebanon.

"We have a very high emigration rate in Lebanon: Lebanese youth leaving the country and older Lebanese adults returning to their home country to retire in Lebanon," said Maya Abi Chahine, UfS's program manager. "Seniors find themselves kind of alone. The UfS is for students aged 50 and up and, although it doesn't offer degrees, the program offers a variety of lectures and courses, covering various topics to help older people get the most out of their later years."

Usually, UfS classes were held in person at the American University of Beirut campus, where students rubbed shoulders with college age classmates. However, since the start of COVID-19, learning has moved online.

Online learning has also opened the door for many new students to attend the program for the first time. 77-year-old Jaques Ekmekji was never able to join UfS when it was in person. "I was almost always stuck at home because of operation on my back," Ekmekji said. "When everything moved online, that was a great opportunity for me."

Since joining UfS, Ekmekji says the program has given him the chance to explore new curiosities. "It gives me a real space for growth in certain areas that I never thought of."

Suma Rifai can't wait to talk in person back on the American University campus. "I believe it's a must for the new generation to see us on campus. For them, they have to see that the hope is there." The hope, says Rifai, is that no matter how old you are, you can always be a student.

Welcome to the tour bus that helps you catch up on sleep. A new Hong Kong Sleeping Bus Tour is letting people get some much-needed extra sleep. The bus tour is a 76-kilometer, five hour ride around Hong Kong on a double-decker bus. Tickets for the Sleeping Bus Tour quickly sold out, passengers had to wait in the long line in front of the ticket office.

So how did the idea of the tour come out about? "When we were trying to develop new tours, I was stressed out by my work, and I couldn't sleep at night. So I once suddenly passed out in my office because I had suffered from lack of sleep," said Kenneth Kong of Ulu Travel, the organizer of the bus tours. "But when I was travelling on the bus, I was able to sleep well. So I create this tour that lets passengers just sleep on the bus."

Dr. Shirley Li, who researches sleep at the University of Hong Kong, said, "People in Hong Kong don't have enough time to sleep. Some people may tend to connect public transport with their sleep. And that's why they found it easier to fall sleep on the bus. People can sleep on the bus at any time. So the Sleeping Bus Tour can really help them. And this tour also reminds the public about the drop in people's healthy lifestyles."

"I have been suffering from insomnia, so I am here to try and get some sleep. I know it is just for a moment, because I don't want to move my comfortable bedroom into a bus and sleep in the sunshine," said 25-year-old Anson Kong, one of the passengers on the first bus tour.

Over the past few decades, children have been taking part less in free play and more in organized sports. While participation in organized sports has both social and physical benefits for young children, concerns about safety and benefits increase as participants get younger.

Though most children are naturally likely to be physically active, not all kids are willing to get up and move. Soccer coach Joseph Luxbacher says, "Every kid has the potential to be a good sportsman in different kinds of sports. Participating in organized sports such as the school soccer team introduces direction to children's physical activities. Following a team schedule gives kids a set time and place to exercise. As a result, kids can be safe from accidents and be protected against hurt."

What's more, participating in organized sports gives children time to communicate with others and showing good sportsmanship. For young children who may still be very self-centered, participating in team sports teaches them to think about the group and encourages them to be happy about the success of their teammates. Kids can also benefit from spending time with their coach and having a chance to develop a positive relationship with an adult other than their parents, especially if the coach is both skilled and devoted to being a positive mentor.

Playing organized sports requires a lot of time for practice and games, so it would seem that this could influence students' study. Actually it can ameliorate students' test performance. That's because to play organized sports well, players have to memorize information, do repetitive actions, and learn from teammates. All these types of learning skills can make students score higher.

Though it can come from many different sources—parents, coaches, teammates or themselves—many children who participate in organized sports feel pressured to succeed. While a little stress can be helpful in leading children to perform with increased focus and strength, too much stress will leave young kids feeling very tired. Organized sports are more likely to put the right amount of pressure on them.

Natural disasters may claim thousands of lives or destroy millions of homes. What can we learn from disasters?

Sometimes, there are no real answers. Everyone has lost something and someone, and they keep on asking what they have done to deserve this cruel fate. It's okay to hold on to these questions, but no matter how hard and painful it is, you should keep moving, breathing and living.

Even strangers can teach you kindness. There may be millions of selfish people in the world. There is still kindness out there, waiting to be discovered. You will find it everywhere, at the most unexpected places—even among the wastelands left by the disaster.

Family is everything. Sometimes we forget to love our family, just because we're too busy with our own lives. We will not realize their value until we arrive at an empty house, an abandoned and forgotten place that you once called "home".

Sure, reality can harsh and unforgiving but it doesn't mean that we should blame ourselves and feel like a victim forever. We have to strive and thrive; we have to fight and do whatever it takes to resist and rise up. Not everyone will have a happy ending or an interesting plot, but we can always decide how to write the ending.

Every day of your life should be spent loving and living. Don't be angry at the world for letting you live an unbearable life of heartbreaks and frustrations. So just love deep and love hard. Live as if it's your only chance to find the happiness that you deserve.

A. You'll find your way someday.

B. Your money won't matter in the end.

C. Life is too short to live in its imperfections.

D. However, it's not a reason to lose hope in humanity.

E. You shouldn't be a victim forever——be a survivor.

F. You have to help yourself first before you can help others.

G. At times, we take them for granted because we think they'll always be there.

One noon, Mark knocked at the door, saying, "Take the letter." Then, a little girl answered from inside, "I'm coming." But after 3 minutes, no one came. Mark, the postman, said again, "Please hurry. I have to go to the next place."

The girl, Jane, replied, "Sir, put the letter under the door. I'm coming. But it'll take more time." The old postman replied, "No, I'm waiting. It's a registered letter. So your signature is needed."

After a long time, the door open. Mark was angry and was about to shout at the girl. But when the door opened, he was shocked to see a little girl who had no legs. He immediately had great pity for her. He quietly gave her the letter, took her signature and left.

The little girl often lived alone in her house. Her mother wasn't in this world. And her father used to work far away. He wasn't rich and could not buy the girl prostheses(假肢). To take care of her, her aunt stayed with her every night. But she lived alone during the day.

In about two months, whenever mail came, Mark would knock and call Jane. Then he'd wait patiently at the door. Gradually, interaction and attachment (依恋) grew between them. And they learned more about each other.

Jane noticed Mark used to come barefoot (赤脚) to deliver mail. The rainy season came. One day, when Mark left after delivering the letter, his footprints were left on the wet soil. Jane came out with a piece of paper, put it on the footprints and took down the picture of his feet. Then she handed her aunt the pocket money she had saved, and asked her to get shoes of that size and keep them in the house.

注意:1)续写词数应为150左右。2)请按如下格式作答。

Days later, Jane heard the old postman knock on her door.

……

"I can't give her legs, but I can give her prostheses," Mark suddenly thought, and decided to buy.
