E-waste

Electronic waste (e-waste) comes from computers, cameras, phones, fridges, TVs and so on.

How much e-waste has been produced?

There is too much e-waste on the earth. In the past ten years, 506. 5 Mt of e-waste has been produced. That is as heavy as about 50,149 Eiffel Towers.

What can we do with e-waste?E-waste is harmful to the environment. Repeat the three words in our life: reduce, reuse and recycle. Here are some examples.

 Bright and early 

 If you get up "bright and early", you get up very early in the morning.  

 Example: I like to get up bright and early every day on holiday so I can go for a swim before breakfast.  

 Fair and square  

 If something such as a game or decision is "fair and square", it's honest and fair.  

 Example: I think I won that game fair and square, even though Mark would probably disagree with that.  

 Alive and well  

 If someone is "alive and well", they're finally safe after being in danger.  

 Example: I'm pleased to report that the missing climbers are all alive and well.  

 First and foremost  

 We use "first and foremost" before we refer to the most important part of something; it's like saying "most importantly".  

 Example: First and foremost, I'd like to thank everybody for all their help.  

We are losing home!

Like many other animals, we live in the trees. However, billions of trees are being cut down every year to make paper for humans. In this way, a lot of animals' homes are being destroyed! Is it right to make animals homeless so that humans can have more paper?

Elephants mostly live on the plain of Africa and in the forests of Asia. But today, they are facing a serious problem: large numbers are being killed for meat and skin, especially for ivory. They are in danger! Only when we stop buying elephant products can we stop the killing and save them. Let's say NO to sale!

Dear Doctor,

I am a sixteen-year-old student and I've been experiencing lots of back pain and headaches lately. I'm unsure about the cause. Like some of my friends, I spend my evenings playing computer games and surfing the internet. What's more, I carry a heavy schoolbag to school daily. I'm unable to tell you exactly what's wrong, but I can offer some advice. First of all, don't spend too much time on your computer, and stop using it late at night. It's important for teenagers to get enough sleep. Also, you get headaches from looking at computer screens for a long time. If you sit on a chair for long, it can make your back sore too. As for your schoolbag, it's important to manage its weight. Take anything you don't need out of your schoolbag. If possible, leave some books or materials at school.

I hope my advice is helpful. Anyway, I strongly recommend（推荐）you visit a local doctor for that.
