"I'll risk my life for you." The sentence on the book cover of The Quality of Silence instantly attracted me. It was a touching confession (表白) of love. But as I started to read it, I found
the book was not only about love, courage and faith (信念). British author Rosamund Lupton wrote the book. It tells the story of Yasmin, and her deaf daughter, Ruby. They arrived in Alaska, the US. Someone told them that Ruby's father, Matt, died in an accident. Yasmin couldn't accept the fact of her death. She set out into the cold winter to look for him. But a lot of things happened. Yasmin knew that they had to keep moving. It was lucky of them to meet Matt again eventually. The author tells the story from Yasmin's, and also from Ruby's view. The author takes turns telling the story in the different ways. It is such a great idea. From Ruby's story, I feel like I'm in Alaska facing the same problems them. I can't put down the book even for a second because I want to know whatnext. I am moved by Yasmin's spirit as well. She kept looking for her husband even when the temperature was -55℃. I cried when I saw Matt and Yasmin lived together at last. Their love was the reason that they both kept going.
