Mary is an American (美国的) schoolgirl. She lives far from China, so she comes to Beijing by plane. She stays there for a week. She visits the Great Wall (长城) and the Palace Museum (故宫). She is now in Shenzhen with her parents. They are English teachers in a school. Mary doesn't know (知道) much Chinese, but she is studying Chinese. She often speaks Chinese to her Chinese friends. Sometimes they don't understand (理解) her because she can't speak Chinese well.

It's Sunday morning. She wants to go to Shenzhen Zoo. She wants to see the pandas and the monkeys, but she is lost in the subway station. She has a good idea. She asks a Chinese boy for help but the boy cannot understand her. Then she takes out a pen and a piece of paper. She draws a panda and a monkey on it, and shows the picture to the boy. The boy knows it and shows Mary the way to the zoo. Both Mary and the boy are clever!
