If you live in the United States, according to the law you can't have a full-time job until you're 16 years old. At the age of 14 or 15, you can do part-time jobs after school or on weekends. During summer, you can work 40 hours each week if you have a part-time job. Kids who are between the ages of 10 and 13 can do certain types of farm jobs, with their parents' permission.

Does all that mean that if you're younger than 14, you can't earn(挣) some real money of your own? Of course not! Here are some teenagers' ideas.

Some teenagers make money through hard work. "I babysit or do odd(临时的) jobs for the community." says Justin, an eleven-year-old boy. Jenny is eleven years old, too. She tells us that she makes some pocket money by cleaning up yards for others.

Some of teenagers are using their creativity to make money! Lena is 13 years old. She makes by knitting(编织) dog sweaters and selling them to her neighbors. Ann is one year younger than Lena. She says, "When I started taking art classes and showing my work to people, they said would pay me to draw pictures for them." Jasmine is 13 years old. She even writes articles and book reviews(评论) for different magazines!
