Today is Jim's birthday. He is three years old. He is happy because he gets lots of presents. After dinner, he watches TV with his parents for an hour. And then his mother says, "Time for bed. It's 7:50."

"But why don't you go to bed?" Jim asks.

"We are adults(大人). Adults can go to bed late," says the mother.

Jim doesn't want to go to bed. He asks his mother to give him a cake. His mother doesn't want him to eat it because it's too late. She says, "The cakes all go to bed."

"But not all ofthem, mom," Jim says. "The small cakes go to bed, but their parents aren't sleeping. They are awake. They can go to bed late. Am I right?"
