Did your family move and you have to go to a new school? Here are some ways to help you survive your first day as the “new kid”.

★ Do a little research(调查).  There's probably a website. If there isn't one for the school, look for the town's website. You can find out about sports teams and events. And you can even check out what is usually served for lunch.

★ Be confident.  People will respect you for being confident. That's why first impressions are so important.

★ Smile. A warm smile can make people around you feel comfortable.  Smiling makes people want to be around you and get in on the fun.

★ Make the first move. Anywhere, in the bathroom, or at the water fountain, you can find someone that has things in common with you.  Introduce yourself and tell them where you come from! You never know where you can find a nice friend.

You can be a member of a sports team, a club, a band or a service organization. In that way, you will meet some friends that have the same interests as you.

A. Try to begin a conversation.

B. Join in some after-school activities.

C. Get on the Internet and find out about the school.

D. It also makes you look like you're having a great time.

E. Walk with your head up, back straight and your shoulders back.
