This was 3 months back when I was in China for a student exchange program. It had been twoand I was in a supermarket searching for basic food stuff（东西）. Everything was in Chinese and it seemed thatnobody understood what I was trying to ask. A mixedof loneliness and helplessness began to kill me. I nearly wanted to. crying because I realized that the next 3 months was going to be very difficult.
Then, a man walkedme and tried to ask if everything was okay by gesturing（做手势）to me. I asked himI could find butter. He didn't speak English. But, he realized I was trouble and he called his daughter on his mobile phone. His daughter, a college student, had a very sweet voice. She talked to me in English and asked me what IShe then translated that back tofather and he helped me to find the butter.
It was a very touching moment of my life. In a（n）. country, what the man did made me feel warm and welcome.
