Julie is having a violin lesson with her teacher, Mr. Miller. "Julie, your recital(演奏会) is on December10th," says Mr. Miller. "Practice every day for 45minutes, and I think you'll be ready."
Every day after school, Julie goes to her friend Emma's house. They play computer games for two hours. When Julie gets home, it's often late. She doesn't practice her violin very often.
On December 1st, Mr. Miller listens to Julie play. He looksanxious. He tells Julie she's not ready for the recital. "Did you practice every day for 45 minutes?" he asks.
"Well, not every day," says Julie.
"You need to practice more," says Mr. Miller. Eric, Julie's cousin, calls her that night." Are you ready for your recital?" he asks.
"No, I'm not. I still need to practice," says Julie. Then Julie practices for an hour each day. At the recital, she plays so well. Her parents and big brother are proud of(为……骄傲)her and so is Mr. Miller. Julie thanks him for telling her to practice. She learns that she has to work hard at something to be really good at it.
