Last week, a boy called Bobby wrote to me, saying that he had a problem with his father. His father was nice, but very busy. When they were together, they just sat there without saying anything and it made both of them look foolish. He didn't know what to talk about with his father. He asked me for advice.

Here is what I wrote back:

Dear Bobby,

I think you can try telling your father everything you told me in your letter. But if you're still afraid to do that, here are some helpful ways to start a talk.

First, remember that everyone loves to talk about themselves. You can ask your father something about himself. For example, you can ask him, "What's something you loved to do in your childhood, but you never have time for these days?" You will learn something about him and have a lot of new things to talk about next time. Another way is to tell him about something bad in your daily life. Ask him about a time when he was also troubled. You could change "troubled" to any other word, such as worried, unhappy and so on. Here's one more tip: You can find thousands of questions online. If your father asks why you have so many interesting questions, tell him that you find them online and you think they're fun.

Yours,

Aunt Linda

Problems are always there but you can find a way to get through the difficult time. If you have problems like the boy, you can also try the advice. I hope all of you can live a happy family life!
