Peter looks down from his window. There is a car next door. The new family gets out of the car. There is a kid with a red ball cap (帽子). Peter smiles (笑). He wants a new friend to play ball with.
Peter runs next door and knocks on the door (敲门). A man opens the door. Peter says, "Hi, I'm Peter. I live next door. Can your kid come out and play ball?"
The man smiles and says, "I'm glad to meet you, Peter. Sam wants to meet a new ball-playing friend. Sam plays ball very well."
Peter can't wait to meet Sam. The man calls, "Sam, come to meet our newneighbor. This is Peter. Peter, this is Samantha. We call her Sam."
Peter feels a little sad. Samantha? The kid with a ball cap is a girl! Can a girl play ball well? He thinks the man must be kidding (开玩笑).
But after Peter plays ball with Sam, he says, "Sam, your dad is right. You are a good ball player. I'm happy that you live next door."
