Today I'd like to tell you something about Zhang Guimei. She teaches Chinese at school. She has no kids but more than 130homelesschildren call her "Mom". These children lost(失去) their homes.

Zhang was born in Heilongjiang Province in 1957 and came to Yunnan Province at the age of 17. In 2008, Zhang founded(成立) the Huaping Senior High School for Girls because lots of girls dropped out of(退出) school. She wants the girls to have the chance to receive further education(接受进修教育). Every morning, Zhang asks girls to get up at 5:30. Then she turns on the lights in the classroom and watches them read. She tells her students to work hard and help others.

Now about 1,804 students from the girls' school go to college(大学).
