"Mom, I want to have a fast Porsche (保时捷)," said sixteen-year-old Steve, as he drove our old family car home after he passed his driving test. "A Porsche is expensive," I answered." You will have to work hard to buy one."

Over the next several years Steve tried his best to realize (实现) his dream. After high school he won a scholarship (奖学金) to study at a famous university (大学) and always got good grades. Later he got an MBA degree and found a job in a large company (公司). Then he got married (结婚).

One day he invited us to his home in Los Angeles for his birthday. After a round of hugs, Steve asked me to stand in front of the garage (车库). He opened the door.

"What a beautiful car!" I said in surprise. Steve smiled with tears of happiness in his eyes.

I knew he did it. All these years, he didn't ask any one of us for help, and I almost forgot about it. And now his dream car is right in front of us, shining beautifully. I felt so proud of him.

Months later, when he said that he had decided to sell his perfect Porsche, I was unprepared for it! Steve explained (解释) that he had discovered (发现) that wanting a Porsche was more fun than having one.
