This cute little African penguin is called Lucas. He lives in San Diego Zoo in the US. He is learning to walk with special shoes. Lucas has a health problem called bumble-foot (禽掌炎). It gives Lucas cuts (伤口)on his feet. When he walks, it is painful (疼痛的), and the cuts can even kill (杀死) him. So, zoo workers made these shoes for him. The zoo wants the number of African penguins to grow. Their population (种群数量) in the wild has gone down in the past few years. This is because of human (人类) activity, according to the zoo.
