As a reporter, I covered the "So the World May Hear Awards Gala (庆祝活动)" in St. Paul, Minnesota. This event 1 the achievements of the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Its2 is to send more than 2 million free hearing aids to people in need around the world.
At the gala, the people I3 told me how life-changing it was for them to4 a hearing mission. I wanted to find out how it felt to provide 5 hearing aids for people who would not be able to afford them.
In April 2019, I had a(n) 6 to take part in hearing missions in Matamoros and Reynosa. I received training in how to match the right hearing aid to each patient and make sure it fitted 7 . We helped more than 700 persons in the two 8 .
Many people came to the events to 9 their hearing aids. I saw that moms heard their children's 10 for the first time. And the11 patients cried as sound entered their ears again after at least 60 years of 12 .
Bill Austin and his wife, Tani Austin, 13 the group in Mexico. Bill founded the organization in 1984. "It's not just about giving someone a hearing aid. It's about showing them you 14 ," Tani said.
"If we value the caring between people, everything gets15 every day," Bill said.
