Long long ago, there was a farmer. He had many nice horses.
One night, a big black horse ran away from the farm. The old man said, "What will be, will be."
Months later, the black horse came home with two beautiful horses. The old man said quietly, "What will be, will be."
The old man's son loved the big black horse. He learned to ride. But during the first lesson, he fell from the horse and broke (弄断) his leg. He was sad. The old man just said, "What will be, will be."
A year later, a war (战争) was started. All young men in the country had to fight in the war. Lots of them died. However, the old man's son didn't fight in the war because of his broken leg. He survived (幸存). The old man said to himself, "What will be, will be."
