When Dorothy opened her eyes again, the house was on the ground and everything was quiet, she picked up Toto-Dorothy's dog, 1 the door, and went out. They saw tall trees and beautiful flowers, and little 2 with blue doors.
Dorothy gave a little cry. "This isn't Kansas, Toto! And 3 are we?"
A little woman walked up to Dorothy and said, "Thank you, thank you! Now the people are 4 !"
"Why are you 5 me?" Dorothy asked.
"You 6 the Witch (女巫) of the East," said the woman. "She was a 7 witch, and her People, the Munchkins (芒奇金人), were 8 her. Now she is dead, and we and the Munchkins want to thank you. " "But I didn't kill 9 !" Dorothy said.
"Your house 10 on the Witch," laughed the woman. "Look! You can see her feet!"
Dorothy looked, and saw two feet, with 11 shoes, under the house. 12 one of the Munchkins gave a shout. "Look! Her feet are disappearing in the hot sun. "
A second later, there were only the red shoes.
"Good," said the woman. She 13 the shoes and gave them to Dorothy. "They're 14 shoes now. You must wear them, 15 a witch's shoes can sometimes do wonderful things. " "Thank you!" said Dorothy.
