While rice and wheat (小麦) are the two most popular food worldwide, a study covered more than 10000 people in Northwest China. (A) It is reported that choosing rice ns food may lower the risk of being fat.
Researchers from Xi'an Jiaotong University collected data (数据) from people aged 35 to 74 from Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai provinces, Ningxia and Xinjiang. The researchers divided these people into three groups. The first group includes people with rice preference, eating (B) it either daily or four to six times every week. The second group's main food is wheat, and the third group eats both rice and wheat.
The results show that rice preference may be connected with a lower risk of being fat in Northwest China. Higher wheat intake (摄入) was connected with higher risks of body fat and stomach fat in men and stomach fat in women, according to the study.

People with rice preference often have more fresh vegetables meat and fish servings. People with wheat preference in Northwest China often eat large bowls of noodles with fewer vegetables or less meat, and sometimes even with a large amount (数量) of oil.
