A tiger is in a cage (笼子). Soon a good man goes by. After crying for help many times and saying not to eat him if the man lets him out, the good man opens the door of the cage. But after the tiger jumps out, he still wants to eat him. "Wait!" the man cries. "You shouldn't eat me. Let's ask others what they think. " "Sure" the tiger says. 

First, the good man asks a tree. The tree says, "I help people stay away from hot sun. But others cut me down. Let the tiger eat you. " Next, the good man asks a bird. The bird says, "I hurt (伤害) no one. But people hunt and kill me. Let the tiger eat you. " The last one that the good man asks is a road. The road (马路) says, "All day and all night people step on me without even a 'thank you'. Let the tiger eat you. "

The tiger is ready to eat him. Just then a dog comes by. "What is happening?" asks the dog. The man tells the dog the whole story. 

"I don't understand, " says the dog. "You want to eat the man because he puts you in a cage?"

"Silly dog!" the tiger cries. "I am in the cage. This man lets me out. "

"I am in the cage!" the tiger cries. "In this way!" With that, he jumps back into the cage. At once, the dog closes the door of the cage. 

"Oh, " the dog laughs. "At last I understand!"

The good man and the dog walks off. The tiger looks sad in the cage. If he waits long enough, maybe another good man will come by.
