It's the last day of the school week. School is over. John goes home by bike. On the way, he sees Tom. He is walking home. John asks him to play soccer with him tomorrow (明天). Then they say goodbye to each other.

When John gets back home, his mother is drinking tea at the table. There is a nice box on the chair beside her. She looks very tired (累的) but happy. When she sees John, she asks him to open the box. 

"Wow, they're sports shoes. Are they for me, Mum?"

"Yes, tomorrow is your birthday and the sports shoes are for your birthday."

"I like them very much. Thank you, my dear mum."

"I'm very happy that you like them."

"They look very cool andcomfortable, just right for playing soccer. Can I put them on tomorrow, Mum?"

"Sure."

"By the way, how much are the sports shoes, Mum?"

"Only $50."
