We all know that we should stop in front of a red light. We must wait 1 it turns green. But if there is no one around or if we are very 2 that it's OK to run the light, will we jaywalk (乱穿马路) ?
Yesterday, I was driving from Harrisburg to Lewisburg to meet an old friend. I was already late for the meeting, so I was driving 3 . When I came to a crossing, the traffic light turned red. Then 4 I looked left, right and behind me. I was alone at that time. 5 was on the road. But I sat in the car, still waiting for the light lo turn green.
I started thinking about why I didn't run the light. I was not 6 about being arrested (逮捕) because there was not a police officer or a camera. There was not a car or a man. There would be no 7 in running the light.
Suddenly, I realized that I stopped because it's part of an 8 we have in society. We trust each other to 9 the rule: Don't run a red light. We always trust each other to do the 10 thing. The trust can be more powerful than laws.
