For the past 20 years, the Touching China annual (年度的) people award (颁奖) has honored people from all walks of life across the country. They are people who warm our hearts with their . They all have something common: they try to serve the country in their own way.
Working as a reporter and TV host for over 20 years, Janis Chan from Hong Kong has always tried to a window to the motherland. In 2021, Chan made a documentary named No Poverty Land(《无穷之路》). The documentary records people in remote (偏远的) areas of China get rid of poverty (脱贫) under the government's help. In the documentary, Chan spent three months across mountains and rivers to reach remote villages in Hainan, Guizhou and so on. Chan not only talked with people there but also their life. She wanted to show the audience (观众) the changes that have taken place in these areas. She said, "There are people out there who don't believe the achievements of the mainland. We have seen the great changes 2020, and we feel it's to make a program like this."
After the documentary won good reviews at home and , Chan said she wanted to produce programs to get more people to know China better.
