In the past, libraries mainly play the role of storing books. People used to go to a library to borrow books and get information. But today, libraries have been a place with well-equipped facilities (设施) and people can stay there comfortably for a whole day.
Liu, a college student, has been a regular visitor to her school library since her first year. "When I feel bored at home, I'll check my phone. But it makes me more bored, while staying in the library is different. It offers a great study environment and makes me calm."
Tang, a student in Beijing, thinks the library is the only place where she can put her heart completely in her study. So since high school, she's studied in libraries. She said, "I felt I was facing pressure. I was afraid of falling behind. I had no idea about how to relax. Accidentally I found peace in libraries."
Libraries are also being visited by some people who lost their jobs. Zhong from Shanghai has visited a library since last year. "My family doesn't know my situation, and I don't want them to worry about me, so visiting the library is a way to conceal this from them," Zhong said.
Now, libraries are not only a place of knowledge, but also a space which can offer users a platform for personal growth. Whoever you are, you can stay at libraries to read books, relax and reflect (反省) .
