I don't know how to chat (聊天) with my classmates because we do not share the same interests. We don't have anything to talk about. I am very lonely. What should I do?

Dear Jenny, 

To make friends, you must first be friendly. You can smile. You can pay your classmates a compliment (称赞). Say something nice about their dressing styles or skills. Second, ask a question to start chatting. Find out what interests them and talk about that, even if it doesn't interest you a lot. The conversation is more important than the topic. Finally, talk to more people. Say hello to the people you meet. Don't be nervous and talk to them. I believe you will do better in the future!
