Jordyn was about to turn eight years old when her mom suggested a new way to celebrate her birthday —donating her gifts to a children's hospital.
At first, Jordyn wasn't sure. But quickly she made the decision because she thought that she had al-ready had everything she needed, but these kids were having a difficult time in the hospital — they needed more.
Years passed. Now Jordyn is a freshman in high school. She continues doing this to help children with serious illnesses. In April this year, she made her eighth annual(年度的) birthday-gift don ation to Baptist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Jordyn's efforts have also encouraged her friends. They thought of some gift-giving ideas. For the young patients, gifts might include toy trains. And for the teenagers, they might be books.
"It is really happy to see their little smiling faces, " said Jordyn. She also added "I want to keep do-ing this as long as I can."
