The Duanwu Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday. It has been celebrated nationwide each year for over 2,000 years to honor Qu Yuan, an ancient Chinese patriotic(爱国的)poet. Traditional celebrations of the Dragon Boat Festival include eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats. In September 2009, UNESCO(联合国教科文组织)added the Dragon Boat Festival to the intangible Cultural Heritage list(非物质文化遗产名录), the first Chinese festival to receive the honor.
