When I was in Grade Seven, I got into a fight with a boy in my class. When we saw our teacher, I said "I was right and he was wrong" and he was sure "I was right and he was wrong". The teacher decided to teach us a very important lesson.

She brought us up to a desk, placed him on one side of the desk and me on the other. In the middle of the desk was a large, round ball. I could clearly see that it was black. She asked the boy what color the ball was. "White," he answered loudly.

I couldn't believe his words! We had a fight again, this time about the color of the ball.

The teacher told us to go to the different places. I stood where the boy was standing and the boy came to my place. And this time we found different colors. I had to say "It's white now." 

It was a ball with two differently colored sides. One was black and the other was white. From the boy's viewpoint(视角) it was white. Only from my side it was black.

My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: Sometimes we need to stand in the other people's shoes in order to truly understand their viewpoints.

Imagine you are living in a moving house. Inside the house, there is a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom. Although they are much smaller than those at your home, they are easy for you to use.

Nowadays you can see these moving houses on the road in China. They are called recreational vehicles (RVs). People call them "houses on roads". When it's holiday time, the whole family will get into the small home and hit the road for a trip across the country.

Compared to a real house, this "home" on the road is useful for a family. The best thing is that you can do everything you like freely. You can drive as long as you like without worrying about finding hotels and restaurants. Or you can just stop somewhere nice and stay for a few weeks. You may also meet other families that are on road trips. Together, you put up your tents. It's camping time with lots of talk and laughter.

However, RVs are not always convenient(方便的). They can sometimes break down and don't work. You have to spend time fixing them. But many people still like this kind of vehicle because they can go anywhere they want whenever they want.

①Today, it is a big problem for young people to get fine jobs after they leave universities. There are different kinds of jobs in the world. But how should young people choose the right one? That often worries them.

②"Finding a job" is not the same as "choosing a job". Many young people can't get right jobs.

Here are a few steps to help you think about jobs which you might enjoy doing after you leave school or university.

③First, it is important to know what kind of person you are, what special qualities you have and what you are interested in? There is a difference between an interest and a skill. If you like art and enjoy looking at pictures, that is an interest. But if you can draw ahorse and it looks like a horse not a big dog, that is a skill.

④ Then ask yourself a question, "Of the following three skills—skill with people, skill with information and skill with things, which is my best skill?"

⑤After finding out your best skill, the next step is to study carefully. To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers for information. Ask your friends what they think of the work they do.

⑥The last step is to trust your own ideas and your own thinking! It is your own life. Just find the job you really enjoy doing.

If you want to be close friends with someone, you should share more personal information. If they invite you to go to their home and meet their family, try to do the same thing. Your friends may know that you believe them.

If you and your friends have similar interests like sports or art, it's easier to become the best of friends. You'll find you'll enjoy doing the same things together. These similar interests should be healthy.

You should know what your friends like. You understand what will make your friends laugh or cry. You also know how to make your friends happy when they are sad.

Good friends are always ready to listen. When your friends have problems, you can listen to them and give a hand. When your friends feel happy, it's also a good time to listen and share their happiness.

It is great to have a friend that can help to be happy in every place. Laughing can help you and your friends relax and make life more interesting.
