Chuck was not an ordinary frog. He did love eating flies, but he didn't like catching flies himself. He didn't like snapping them from the air while they were flying around. Some frogs thought Chuck was lazy. Others thought he was strange.

That didn't matter to Chuck. Each morning, Chuck hid himself under the spider's web between the cattails. Then when Lady Eightlegs went off, Chuck ate flies from her web.

One morning while Chuck was enjoying the flies, Lady Eightlegs returned and caught him. She cried, "Go and catch your own". Chuck jumped back into the pond.

Now there was an idea! Why not make his own web? Chuck got some vines. He put them together until they looked like a spider web. He worked on his web for hours until mid-night. And then he fell asleep. When he woke up the next morning, he was stuck inside and couldn't move.

    "Help!" he yelled.

Lady Eightlegs got there and saved him.

"No matter how hard I try,I can't spin a spider's web," Chuck said.

" Of course not," Lady Eightlegs said. "You're a frog. Frogs can't spin spider's webs any better than spiders can swim, I guess. How I wish to swim in the middle of the pond and float (漂浮) peacefully under the sun like you!"

Chuck smiled, "I have an idea."

From that day on, Chuck carried Lady Eightlegs out to the middle of the pond, where they floated and played together. When they returned to shore, they shared a breakfast of flies. It wasn't exactly an ordinary friendship.

The Chinese mainland is willing to send rescue teams after an earthquake which hit Taiwan late Tuesday, killing seven and injuring 254.

More than 200 people have been rescued, but there are still 88 people missing, with most of them trapped in the Yun Men Tusi Ti building in Hualien County.

Six tourists from the mainland were injured and have been sent to a hospital in Hualien. One of the injured, a woman from Fujian Province, was in serious condition.

Zhang Zhijun, head of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, received details about the rescue work through a phone call with Fu Kun-chi, head of Hualien County. Zhang said, "We hope local people will overcome the difficulties and rebuild their homes soon."

Chen Deming, president of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait, also said the mainland was willing to help with quake relief, including sending rescue teams to the island.

"The mainland is learning about the conditions of mainland tourists, students living in disaster-hit areas," said An Fengshan, the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake happened at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, the day before yesterday. The earthquake was followed by a series of aftershocks. It is the most severe earthquake to hit Hualien in fifty years, and 26 aftershocks hit the county until 9 a.m. yesterday.

The highway from Suao to Hualien was closed. The earthquake also caused 200 families to lose power and 35,000 families to lose water supply, the local fire agency said.

Do you know any 9-year-olds who have started their own museums? When Theodore Roosevelt was only nine, he and two of his cousins opened the "Roosevelt Museum of Natural History". The museum was in Theodore's bedroom. It had a total of 12 specimens. On display were a few seashells, some dead insects, and some birds' nests. Young Roosevelt took great pride in his small museum.

Born in New York in 1858, Theodore Roosevelt was not always healthy. "I was a sickly boy", he once wrote. Roosevelt had a health condition called asthma. He often found it hard to breathe. Instead of playing, he watched nature and then read and wrote about it.

Roosevelt's interest in nature sometimes got him into trouble. Once, his mother found several dead mice in the icebox. She demanded that the mice be thrown out. This was indeed "a loss to science", Roosevelt said later.

Because Roosevelt was often sickly as a boy, his body was small and weak. When he was about 12, his father asked him to improve his body. Roosevelt began working out in a gym. He didn't become strong quickly. But he did decide to face life's challenges with a strong will. That determination stayed with Roosevelt his whole life. And eventually his body did get strong. As an adult, he was an active and healthy person. He enjoyed adventures, and he loved the outdoors.

A toy company named the teddy bear for Theodore "Teddy". After knowing that, Roosevelt refused to shoot a baby bear while hunting.

In 1900, at the age of 41, Roosevelt was elected Vice President. A year later, President McKinley, was shot and killed. Roosevelt became our 26th President. At 42, he was the youngest leader the country had ever had.

The First Robotics Competition (FRC) was held in Shenzhen. A total of 35 high-school student teams from China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Poland and other countries joined the two-day contest with their hand-crafted robots.

The FRC is a world-class robotics competition that was first launched in the United States in 1989. It encourages students to improve their hands-on skills and creative capabilities.

There are strict rules, limited resources and an intense six-week time limit before the competition. Teams of student should raise money, design a team brand and improve their teamwork skills, as well as build industrial-size robots to compete. The rules of the game include two groups, and each group has three teams. The group with the highest score wins the game.

The seven teams who won the top prizes in the FRC  Shenzhen Regional will take part in the First Championship to be held in the United States next month.

Yin Shifei, secretary general, said the competition not only enables students to improve their programming, decision-making and problem-solving skills, but also encourages them to cooperate and share with other people

According to Yin, a Shenzhen team invited over 40 left-behind children to the city to watch the FRC game because they wanted to make education more equitable. And the left-behind children can get fair education. These children's parents are migrant workers in Shenzhen, but they are left behind i their hometowns.

Shenzhen became the first city to host an FRC region in Asia last year, and another regional contest will be held in Shanghai this year.
