Humans have been trying to cure cancer for many years. But what if our bodies themselves are able to kill cancer? The winners of this year's Nobel Prize in Medicine may have found this secret. From Oct. 1st to Oct. 8th, the 2018 Nobel Prize winners were announced in five categories (类别), including prizes for medicine, chemistry, physics, peace and economics (经济).

One of the most amazing Nobel-winning achievements(成就) this year was in Medicine. James Allison from the United States and Tasuku Honjo in Japan shared the prize, the BBC reported. They found that our body has a special protein(蛋白质). It stops our body from fighting against cancer cells. Bydisablingthis protein, they can allow the body's immune(免疫的) system to fight cancer cells more efficiently, theNew York Timesreported.

But cancer is not the only problem that people face. There is also the danger of global warming. This year's winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics focused on this in their work. The economics prize was shared by two scientists. They found that creating a global carbon tax (税) is the most efficient way to fight climate change. This would make countries limit their carbon emissions(排放) or else pay a large amount of money.

The Nobel Prize in Physics was given to three scientists who made new discoveries in laser (激光) physics. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was also shared among three scientists for their research on enzymes (酶) and antibodies (抗体).

⑸Most people waste water badly. They usually have a long-time shower and leave the water running when they wash things.

A. To stop the world from being polluted by cars, we have to make some changes. For example, we can go out by bus or by underground.

B. You can call on some students to clean the parks in your city. It's also a good idea to put up some "No Littering" signs in the parks.

C. Always keep in mind that electricity should be cut off before you leave. You'll not only save money but also save energy by doing so.

D. Here are two pieces of advice on how to save water in our daily life. Don't leave the tap(水龙头) on when washing or brushing. Take a short shower instead of a long one.

E. The rubbish on the beach can be swept into the sea. And all kinds of rubbish will put animals in the sea in danger. Always collect rubbish on the beach and never throw rubbish into the sea.

F. Saving paper is a good way to save trees and protect the earth. Students should use both sides of paper. They should also form the habit of sorting(整理) the rubbish so that the waste paper can be recycled.

Don't be surprised if you see a car going down the road without a driver in Beijing these days. In March, 2018, Baidu was given a license to test its self-driving cars in Beijing,ChinaDailyreported.

Self-driving cars have been in development since 2010, when Google announced that it was making such cars. Since then, companies like Tesla, Uber and Baidu have been working to produce and test their own self-driving cars.

Self-driving cars are expected to change the way we get around. They are safer and more environmentally friendly than regular cars. They can remove the stress(压力) of driving and allow disabled or blind people to get around more easily.

But self-driving cars have their own disadvantages as well. In one test, researchers pointed a laser pointer (激光棒) at the car's sensors (感应器) while it was moving. The car mistakenly thought that the laser beam (波束) was in its way and slowed down or changed directions.

The software (软件) that is used to direct the cars may not be safe enough. Reported Live science. Sometimes, without any reasons, it may break down when we use out computers or smart phones. If the software in a self-driving car happened to crash, the results could be deadly. Maybe improvements to the software could solve this problem.
