In the USA, you can only get a full-time job if you are 16 years old or older. But there are things that teenagers can do to earn(赚) some spending money. Here're a few ideas.

Parents with young children sometimes want to go out for dinner or to the movies, but they don't want to leave their children alone. So, they ask a teenager to stay in the house, be a baby-sitter and look after their children while they're out. If the children go to bed early, you can do some of your homework!

Some people have a dog, but they don't have time to take it for a walk. Dogs need a lot of exercise! So some teenagers work as dog walkers. It's a good idea - you earn money and you're outside in the fresh air. You get some exercise, too!

Teenagers can work at home on their computers. Some companies pay teenagers to take online surveys. They want to know what teenagers are interested in. It's a fun and easy way to make money. You can also design web pages for friends or others. Do you have any old toys, books or CDs you don't use? Sell them online and make some money!

Sometimes, some families pay teenagers to mow their lawns(草坪). It's a great job because you get fresh air and exercise. Mow a lawn carefully and people will want you to do it again. Then you have regular customers, because grass always grows.

You can choose one of them to earn some money. Then you can spend it or save it! But don't forget it's important to always tell your parents where you're going. Be safe when you work.

When he was 9 years old, Felix Finkbeiner was asked to give a speech in class on climate(气候) change. The young German spoke about depredation(砍伐森林) and its influences on the planet. At the end of his talk, he called on the people of his county to help by planting one milling trees. __________________. Before he was 20, however, Finkbeiner's hard work had resulted in the planting of more than 14,00000, 000 trees around the world.

Finkbeiner and his classmates began the project - named "Plant – for – the - Planet" –by planting the first tree outside their school. Other schools followed the example, and news of the one-million project began to spread. As a result, Finkbeiner was even given an invitation to speak at the European Parliament. Other invitations soon followed, and when he was just 13, he spoke at a United Nations conference in New York. "We don't think that adults(成年人) alone will save our future," he said in the speech. "We have to take our future in our own hands."

Finkbeiner is now in his twenties, and Plant-for-the- Planet has grown to be an organization with around 70,000 members. It works to teach people about climate change and tochallengethem to plant more trees. Germany's one millionth tree was planted long ago. The goal now is to plant 1,000,000,000,000 trees - about 150 for every person on Earth.

Finkbeiner continues to give talks on climate change to world leaders. "I don't think we can give up on this generation(一代人) of adults," he says, "and wait 20 or 30 years for our generation to come to power. We don't have that time. All we can do is push present world leaders in the right direction."

Did the wind ever blow your hat away? Did you ever drop your notebook on a windy day? How many important pages did you lose? Wind is moving air. It can pick up light materials and carry them far away.

Wind is a force of erosion(仗蚀). It can carry away small

martials such as dust particles(灰尘微粒) and sand particles from the earth's surface. However, wind itself does not cause much erosion. Most "wind" erosion is done by particles which are cried by wind. Wind is an important natural force of erosion in dry places.

Wind can easily pick up sand particles. When they are blown against rocks, the sand particles hit the rocks in the wind. This happens over and over again. Little by lite, the rocks wear down.

The particles which are carried by wind not only cause erosion, they also build up. What is carried away by the wind in one place will drop somewhere else.

When wind slows down, it drops the materials that it is carrying. When sand is dropped, it builds up and becomes dunes(沙丘). Sand dunes are common in deserts and on beaches. Some dunes can be harmful. They can bury(埋) farms and homes, even whole towns.

Wind carries dust particles higher and farther thanitcarries sand. Thick deposits of wind-blown dust may also build up. The wind-blown dust is called loess(黄土). Loess deposits are found in Washington State and Oregon State.

Sometimes people plant grasses and trees to try to stop wind erosion. How does this help? The roots of plants help to hold down soil and other particles found on the ground.

“Nothing will ever be the same again," Ally said to herself.

Ally's father died last summer. It wasn't fair, Ally thought. Dad was young and had never been sick. Why had his heart suddenly stopped? Ally sank slowly into her father's favorite chair and looked at his picture on the bookcase. Ally smiled. "I miss you, Dad," she said softly.

She felt a hand smoothing her hair and looked up. "" Why don't you come outside with me, Ally?" her mother asked. "The birds are nesting(筑巢) in the woods. By this time last year you'd already taken dozens of pictures."

But her mother must know bird watching wouldn't be the same this year. How could it be? Ally wondered. Ever since she could remember she and Dad had been a team, searching the woods for the special wood warbler. "I'll be out in a while, I promise," she answered,

After her mother left, Ally ranched for the photo album she and Dad had put together. On the cover was a photo of a tiny orange bird with blue-gray wings and black eyes. Dad cut it from a local newspaper, Ally smiled, remembering the excited look on Dad's face when he showed her the pretty bird,

"I can't believe someone spotted(发现) this little guy way up here in New Jersey," he said. "Wood warblers are usually found in the south, not this far north. I bet if we search real hard, Ally, we'll see this little guy together someday."

Ally closed her eyes. She loved thinking about the times she and Dad had spent searching the woods for the little bird. They'd never spotted the warbler, but her father had an amazing way of making each outing seem special. He was her best friend, and when they were together Ally felt comfortable, as she did when she had her favorite blue sweatshirt on…
