Once there was a king who wanted to find the answers to his three most important questions in life. The three questions are: "When is the right time for every action?" "Who is the most important person?" and "What is the most important thing to do?" The king asked his men, but their answers didn't satisfy him. In the end, he decided to visit a wise hermit (隐士).

When he got close to the hermit's hut (茅舍), he ordered his bodyguards (保镖) to wait behind. He found the hermit was digging. He asked the hermit his three questions, but the hermit didn't answer. Seeing how old and weak the hermit was, the king began helping him. He dug for hours, but still didn't get the answers. Just as the king was about to leave, a wounded man ran to them and fainted (昏倒) in front of them. The king helped the wounded man up and took care of him. After the wounded man woke up, he said he had wanted to kill the king but was hurt by the king's bodyguards. He asked for forgiveness (原谅) and promised to serve the king faithfully.

Afterwards, the king repeated his questions to the hermit once more. The hermit replied, "If you had not helped me dig earlier, you would have left and been killed by the man. So the most important man back then was me, and the most important time was when you were digging. The most important thing was to be kind to me. When the wounded man arrived, he was the most important person, and saving him was the most important thing. By doing so, you made peace with an enemy." The king finally had his three answers. The most important time is the present, as it's the only time we have the power to act. The most important person is the one you are with, and the most important thing is always to___________.

①According to a university study, kids spent two fewer hours each week on outdoor activities in the early 2000s than kids did in the early 1980s. Most people spend most of their free time watching TV (85%) or playing computer games (81%). "This causes over-weight, greater stress and more physical and emotional (情绪的) illnesses,"says Richard Louv, a nature writer.

②In fact, outdoor activities such as taking a friend along, kicking around a ball and taking photos can help. It is important for kids to play outside.

③Firstly, outdoor activities open up your senses. "Surfing, camping and fishing help bring all of your senses to life," says Betsy Keller, a professor at Ithaca College. "Smell, sight…they're all active when you're outside." With your senses getting stronger, you'll feel free and more creative.

④Playing outside helps your body. When playing outside, you can be on hills, beaches or lakes instead of a flat floor. Different areas offer special fun and challenge your strength and balance (平衡). It also helps you sleep better at night and feel less sleepy during the day.

⑤Outdoor play also makes your mind relax. Too much time indoors may make it hard for kids to focus their attention and easy to feel stressed out. But staying in the nature helps them concentrate (全神贯注) and lowers their stress levels.

⑥Besides, spending time outdoors brings you closer to the environment. Hearing the leaves crackle underfoot, breathing in fresh air, walking through the woods remind you of the beauty of nature. You needn't go to the countryside. There are bits of nature everywhere. It can be your own backyard or that block of trees at the end of the street.

⑦So the next time you sit down to spend time with a TV, consider treating yourself to a little outdoor play instead.

On Feb 26, when an Italian lawmaker went into the country's Lower Chamber with a mask (口罩) to prevent the novel coronavirus (新冠病毒), he was questioned and criticized by others as they thought that wearing masks would cause unnecessary fear and panic. You might be surprised, as in China and other Asian countries, people have willingly put masks on during the outbreak (爆发).

In the west, people are taught to wear masks only when they get sick. They thought masks are seen as a tool to protect sick people and prevent the disease from spreading, so healthy people don't need to wear them. According to a survey done by Global Times among some European and American people, wearing a mask in public can make them feel "worried" and "afraid of being looked at differently."

But as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow in the world, things start to change. In the US, for example, the need for masks is very high now. The US surgeon general has been asking people not to buy too many masks, as they are more needed in hospitals than the public.

In Japan, wearing masks has long been seen as a manner to comfort others when one catches a cold or flu. Some Japanese also turn masks into fashion, with different colors and patterns to match their clothes.

In more cultures in Asia, wearing masks might also be a symbol of solidarity (团结) during the outbreak, according to Lynteris. People wear masks to show that they want to stick together in the face of danger.
