Sam was a fifteen-year-old boy living with his little sister, Julie. Their parents had passed away long ago. Sam had taken care of Julie by himself.

One day, Sam woke up at three in the morning as usual. When Julie was sleeping alone, Sam left their little house to send newspapers. When he found an old man sitting in front of their house, Sam was so surprised that he stopped to look at him closely. It was an icy morning and he looked very old.

The poor old man didn't have anything to cover himself with. Sam went into his house to get the old man a blanket. However, there were no extra blankets, so Sam thought hard and took his father's coat. It was the only thing of his father's that he had left. Sam wrote a short note, "Sir, I found you sleeping in front of my house. This is my father's coat. I hope it fits you well." He put the note in a pocket of the coat, and covered the old man with the coat. Then he went to work. When he came back three hours later, both the man and the coat were gone. Sam thought that it was the best thing he could have done with his father's coat.

That afternoon, Sam hurried home after school because Julie was at home alone. However, Julie and the old man were standing in front of the house, and Julie shouted to Sam, "Brother! He's our grandfather!"

The grandfather smiled and said, "Sam, thank you for giving me the coat and letting me know how good my grandson is. This coat was the one I gave my son a long time ago!"

We are all encouraged to work hard and succeed in life. But failure is still a common part of everyone's lives. Perhaps you are afraid of failure, or even think it's shameful to fail. If you visit the Museum of Failure in Shanghai, you might change your mind.

Samuel West, a Swedish psychologist (心理学家), founded the museum. The museum displays more than 100 failed products. Some of them were made by the most famous and successful companies in the world. For example, in 1993, Apple released the Newton MessagePad which could be used to take electronic notes by hand. But it couldn't recognize handwriting very well. Apple stopped making it in 1997. Coca-Cola once developed a coffee-flavored soda in 2006. The company wanted to catch up with people's growing love for coffee, but the product was taken off the market in 2008.

West said the failed products are not displayed to make fun of these companies. He thinks success stories are all similar. He is tired of reading and hearing the same boring stories. As German-American physicist Albert Einstein once said, "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."

This idea has been welcomed by many big companies. Silicon Valley, for example, is home to some of the world's most innovative(革新的) tech companies. A common slogan there is, "Fail fast, fail often." There are reasons for this. "The best are those that encourage failure, embrace(拥抱) out-of-the-box thinking, and allow employees to make mistakes and see what happens," Simon Casuto wrote for Forbes.

It seems that failure isn't always a bad thing. The key is whether or not you can learn from your mistakes.

For Schultz, a 77-year-old man, this is a chance of a lifetime. Schultz is part of a group of around 50 Germans who are on a bus journey along the ancient Silk Road.

Speaking of his journey, he says: "I have been deeply interested in the Silk Road since I was a child, but now I finally have a chance to experience it."

The two-month bus journey will take the group through Germany, Russia, and other four European countries. They will then enter China from the country's western part. It will be an unforgettable memory for them.

Nearly half of the 13000-kilometer trip will be inside China. From Xinjiang in the west to Shanghai in the east, the German visitors will see more than 20 Chinese cities. "We have managed the trip of the Silk Road for around 10 years. An increasing number of people, not only from German-speaking countries, have been joining us," says Liu Guoqiang from China Tours.

Almost 26 million foreigners traveled to China in 2015, and about 5million of them were from Europe. Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai and the Changjiang River are traditional Chinese travel destinations for European tourists. Speaking of where he wants to go, Schultz says, "Compared with modern cities, the culture in western China attracts(吸引)me more."

Shi Xiang, the head of the China Tours, says, "Being a new brand to attract foreign visitors, the Silk Road is good for people to know more about China, especially the northwestern part of the country."
