At the age of 60, my dad was ill. After sleeping for two months in hospital, he finally woke up. His waking up thrilled all our family. But then we knew he didn't know any of us! Doctors said they didn't know how long it would last. My heart went down when I heard the terrible news.

I was his only child, so it was my duty to look after him. He forgot almost everything, but he did remember he liked sweets. I would give him one sweet if he didn't sit on the ground, a second for stopping painting on the wall, and another for not trying to put clothes on the dog.

Dad became the oldest child in town. He climbed up the tree to catch a bird and couldn't get down after it flew away. He broke my window with a ball and cleaned our telephone in water like washing clothes. When I told him he was doing wrong things, he would answer smilingly, "I like that!!"

My son then aged five, and two eight-year-old daughters, welcomed their big playmate. He would happily make them real cigarettes, share his sweets with them, and carry them high in the apple tree to pick apples.

It's eight years since the accident, Dad has accepted(接受)the fact that he is the grandpa of his three playmates but not a brother. He has also accepted that they grow taller but his height always stays the same. Though it is still tiring to take care of him, he really brings us a lot of fun. In some way, I think it is a happy thing to look after Dad like looking after a child. How many people can have the chance to care for a childlike parent?

I have something important to tell you, young people. Now you spend a lot of time caring about your idols(偶像)—even more time than you spend on your studies or work. You often wonder:What could you do to be cool and popular like your idols?

Well, guess what? Some of your idols are only made to "look" cool. If you could see into their private(私人的)lives, you would find these stars aren't so bright. Some of them might not be as honest, kind or hard-working as you are!

When I was a teenager, I had my idols, too—Leonard Cohen and Neil Young. They were ordinary-looking(长相一般)people who played the guitar when sitting on a chair. They had no beautiful clothes, and no screaming(尖叫)fans. They didn't need to do that because their songs were great and meaningful. Most of all, they taught me that it was okay if I was not popular and cool all of the time. I still listen to them today.

Modern "idol culture(文化)" often sends the wrong message(信息)that life is always easy and fun. But the best actors, the top-ranking sports stars and the most creative scientists all have scars(伤疤)from the stress(压力)of dealing with(处理)life's many difficulties.

It's very necessary to choose the right idols. We should celebrate(歌颂;赞美)people who teach us important things that can help to guide us on the road ahead. The next time we see some pretty,  popular "stars" , and then ask ourselves:Do we really need these people in our life?

In July, China introduced the "double reduction(双减)" policy. It hopes to cut down students' learning burden(负担)by cutting down homework and after-school classes. More than two month passed.

"Our homework is clearly less than before," said 13-year-old Shen Yuzhe from Beijing. "We don't need to buy workbooks anymore. The exercises are almost from the textbook(课本)."

According to Shen, teachers are also giving them more chances to do experiments(实验)and learn from real life. This is a much better way to learn things than just reading the books."

For 13-year-old Zhang Hangming from Tianjin, the best thing about "double reduction" is that they can now spend more time taking part in clubs and activities, such as dancing, volleyball and drama. "My school finishes one hour later than before. As a result, I can finish my homework at school. "

Both Shen and Zhang find there are fewer exams now. "Exams help me to study harder. Each exam shows my progress(进步)and my weak points,"  Zhang said.

"Some students now spend more time having fun when they finish the homework early. But if you use all the free time to relax, you might fall behind your peers(同龄人)," he said.

A. Then I can go to my favorite soccer club.

B. But they think it's not necessarily a good thing.

C. Shen also pointed out that self-discipline(自律)becomes the key.

D. How do students feel about it?

E. For example, we went to research earthworms(蚯蚓)in a field during a biology(生物)class.

根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Did you walk into the cinema on National Day and watch the movie "Changjin Lake(长津湖)"? It's about how the new China helped North Korea to push back the American soldiers(士兵). It is not only the movie itself that makes people touch, but the heroes of the war who fought for our country and the people.

Let's take a close look at the real-life history behind the movie. Changjin Lake is in North Korea. The Battle(战役)of Lake Changjin was in a very cold winter with temperatures(气温)of around -40℃. In the 1950s, our Chinese soldiers had to face life-and-death problems when they got on the train to enter the DPRK. A US enemy plane bombed(轰炸)the trains, and the soldiers had to quickly moved into the mountains and forests to hide. I still deeply remember a picture in the movie. In order not to expose the target(暴露目标), they stayed in the ice and snow without any moving. Although the follow-up troops(后续部队)killed the enemy and won the battle, unluckily 125 soldiers were frozen(冻)to death. This is a movie about war and people. Many can't help crying after watching this movie, because our Chinese soldiers used their lives to guard(保卫)the country and the people.

It is the loveliest persons who guarded China's great rivers and mountains. However, many of them never have the chance to see the beautiful mountains and rivers again. The movie "Changjin Lake" wants to tell as today's young people:though we live in an age without war, we should never forget the true heroes in the history and we need to pass on their great spirit!
