Something that I learnt from both my parents was the important of having respect(尊重) for other people. I remember one day when we were traveling on a bus and1 sat down while other people were standing. My mother shouted at me"2  immediately!" Steve is a reporter. He often bought ice—cream from Mr. Smith. Soon he learned about his story. He wanted to help the old man, so he posted a photo online. Lots of people read Mr. Smith's story and came to buy ice—cream. That was not enough. Steve started to raise money for Mr. Smith. He planned to raise $3, 000, but in fact, he got more than S201, 000. 

Now Mr. Smith is rich. He doesn't need to make money. But he says, "I'm really thankful to Steve and other kind people for helping me. I want to help others, too. "He keeps on selling ice—cream. He gives ice—cream to kids for free. He also gives his money to poor families.

On Dec 9, three Chinese astronauts gave a science lecture（讲课）400 kilometers above Earth！Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu, who are working aboard the Tiangong space station, showed millions of students a glimpse（一瞥）of their life there. They also did some fun science experiments（实验）. Let's take a look at some of them. 

Use it or lose it

The human body grows with the pull of Earth's gravity（重力）. But in space, our bones and muscles（肌肉）don't need to sustain our body's weight. This will cause bone and muscle loss. NASA says that astronauts can lose up to 20 percent of their muscles after just a couple of weeks. That is dangerous because they will be too walk to work. 

Astronauts have different ways to prevent this. During the lecture, Zhai introduced a special uniform Ye was wearing. It's called a "penguin suit". There are many elastic bands(弹力带) inside the suit. Wearing it, astronauts use their muscles to stretch the bands. This keeps their muscles strong. 

Wang also showed students how she walked on a treadmill(跑步机) and rode a bicycle. Astronaut exercise with these tools every day to prevent muscle loss. 

Space water is different

During another experiment, Wang made a water film（膜）. Then she added more water drops onto the film to make it a water ball. This can never happen on Earth. Why？

We need to first understand the surface tension（表面张力）of water. It is like a "skin" of water. The "skin" is there because water molecules（分子）are drawn to each other. Most of the time, gravity is too strong and it breaks the "skin". But with zero gravity in space, the "skin" stays strong and the water ball will not break. 

Space water is different in many other ways from that on Earth. For example, water will not flow downward if you try to pour it into a cup. That's why astronauts usually drink water through straws（吸管）in sealed（密封的）bags. If astronauts cry, the tears will stay on their eyeballs instead of falling down. They have to wipe them away！

Quan was born and raised in a village. In 2017, her mother was badly hurt in a car accident. Since then, the medicinal bills（账单）have piled up, and left Quan's father as the family's only earner. When the accident happened, Quan had been diving for just three years. 

Quan's story has won the heart of the nation. Besides being surrounded（围绕）with congratulations and messages of support, she has been contacted by many organizations, companies and individuals（个人）offering to help her family.

Our family home is in a small village in the east of Pakistan, in the Himalayan mountains. The village is quite small and very quiet. The mountains are extremely beautiful. You can go for a long walk and swim in the rivers but there are no shops, cinemas or cafes. 

Kate and Julian Foxton 

Our two—bed house is by the sea in the south—west of England. It is about five minutes' drive to the nearest village of Portreath. There are lots of beaches, rivers and forests and it is very quiet. We spend a lot of time reading books, watching films and going for walks. Our area is great for sports like surfing, kayaking and mountain biking. However, the houses here are expensive, which can be a problem for local people. There are no buses or trains here, so it can be difficult to get around without a car. 

Chafic and Aline Halwany 

Our home is near the centre of Beirut, Lebanon, one of the largest cities in the Middle East. There are lots of cafes and restaurants, which open late at night. We love it here because it's so friendly and you can always find what you need—lots of people come to stay to learn Arabic and French. However, it can be noisy at night, and there is quite a lot of traffic during the day.

When we finished, our teacher gave us all notebooks to record our e with the babies for the whole week. We had to carry them with us every day and look after them like real babies. That was really hard work！For example, one of my friends has quite a bad memory, and he l his flour baby on the bus one morning. We also had to feed the baby and get it for bed in the evening. Every night, I was supposed to get up three t to feed the flour baby. I was tired and fell a very quickly. Yet it was just a few hours before my alarm clock woke me up again. I got so little sleep t I had black bags under my eyes. 

It was a hard time, but now the project is finished. I feel I have learmt that it is not easy to be a responsible（负责的）parent. I think it also gave me a new perspective（观点）on what my parents have done for me.
