Usually, one students gives a talk on Monday mornings. One Monday last year, a boy gave the talk. He was 2 and excited ! When I saw him, I wanted to have a try, too.

Can I really do it?

Last week, our teacher said our class should give the talk. My teacher 3 me, "I know you want to have a try. Next Monday, you can give the talk. Go and write something down. Get ready for it, I'm sure you'll do well."

"Thank you ," I answered, It was such a great 4  for me! When I got home , I was excited. I wrote two pages for the talk. I read them again and again. When I read, I asked my parents 5. I wanted to make my teacher happy.

Monday morning came. I began to feel 6. When did I last give a talk to so many people? Never! This was my first time. Could I really do it? Maybe I couldn't finish the talk.

When I got to school, we all went out to playground. I went up to the stage, 7 in front of everyone. I opened my mouth, but I couldn't say anything.

"Take is easy," I said to 8. "Don't be nervous. You can do it."

Just then, I looked down at everyone. I saw about 1,000 eyes. They were all looking at me! I couldn't even stand up.

I looked at their eyes more carefully. Their eyes were saying, "You can do it! Don't be afraid, just talk!"

I 9 a deep breath. Then I began to talk. It wasn't hard. It was easy.

I don't know 10 I finished my talk. But I did it. I felt so good that day. I showed myself to everyone what I can do.

Children learn by taking in pieces of information and sorting them. They do them all through their schooling years. As a child grows, he or she adds to that warehouse(仓库) of information. Sadly, many high school and college students don't have that solid informational knowledge base to do the work required of them in high school and college. But most college professors assume students know the information they need to summarize(总结) an article or understand unknown words in context. So from as early as possible, children need an ongoing diet of good reading material throughout their schooling years in order to achieve that.

Paris 2024 Olympic bid directors rejected on Wednesday the notion of hosting the 2028 Games, saying their aim was the 2024 edition, and the rival bidder Los Angeles said the same.

The International Olympic Committee had been planning to resolve the 2024 competition by offering the losing candidate the chance to host the 2028 edition. The result of the 2024 and 2028 editions will come out at the same time this September.

"We are working on 2024 and there's no reason for us to talk about 2028—we have nothing to offer for that, no project and no willing," Etienne Thobois, Paris 2024 bid director told AFP. "We would have technical difficulties with the Olympic Village to start with," Thobois said, explaining deals were in place for 2024 for a site next to the national stadium that would be hard to extend by four years.

Paris bid spokesman and multi-Olympic gold medal winner Tony Estanguet also rejected the notion of hosting the Games in 2028 at a meeting in London on Tuesday. "There will be no Olympics in Paris in 2028," the former champion canoeist said. "It has always been the deal with our partners that this bid was about 2024. It would be impossible for our project to be put off to 2028."

"Los Angeles is the right city at this important time for the Olympic Movement and is only bidding for 2024," a statement from Los Angeles 2024 said on Tuesday. "With all permanent venues already built and 88% public support, only Los Angeles 2024 offers the lowest-risk and truly sustainable solution for the future of the Olympic Movement in 2024 and beyond."
