There is something to learn from every experience. Make full use of whatever happens to you. Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow.

When I was in Grade One, I attended a summer camp. There were lots of great 1 but there was one thing I was really scared about: climbing the wall.

The wall is a kind of rock that people use to learn how to climb. It is very tall. We were all supposed to climb the wall, but I knew I couldn't get to the top2 I was afraid of heights. I didn't want anyone to know that I was scared. I thought they would all3 me. I made an excuse: "I'm not scared, you know. My leg hurt a bit."

The day came. It was time to4 the wall. The sun was shining but everyone was very quiet that morning. I took photographs at the bottom of the wall and tried to5 . Everyone in the group went up. Then the moment came. It was my6 . I was so scared that all I could think about was my excuse. Someone said, "Shall I take your camera?" and I answered, "I'm not scared, you know. My leg hurt a bit." The7 was that I was more than scared, I was terrified. The camp leader said, "Don't worry. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do." I was surprised. Everyone was understanding. No one8 .

The next day, the leader asked me if I wanted to try the wall on my own, 9 the others watching. Although I was still very 10 , I agreed and climbed slowly to the top with his help. I was still shaking when I came down, but I was really happy. For me, climbing the wall was a real achievement.

If you feel stressed at school, what can you do to make yourself happier? Some may eat their favorite food or listen to some music. Others may go for a walk or get some exercise. A new study found another great way to lower students' stress—playing with dogs.

Scientists studied 105 students between the ages of eight and nine. 35 trained dogs and their trainers also took part in the test. The children were divided into 3 groups. The students in the first group spent 20 minutes with a dog and its trainer. They watched the trained dogs perform and even played with them. They did this twice a week for 4 weeks. The second group spent the same amount of time (时长) doing exercise to relax. The last group did neither of these things.

During this time, the scientists recorded the students' cortisol levels (皮质醇水平). Cortisol is a stress hormone (激素). The more stressed you feel, the more cortisol you will have in your body. What did the scientists find? Both the second and third groups showed rises in cortisol levels. The first group, however, showed no big increase. And the children in this group had the lowest cortisol levels right after playing with the dogs.

According to the study, students enjoy playing with dogs, and it helpsthembecome happier. The stress hormone falls over time this way, which is good for students' health. But here comes the next question: Is 20 minutes of playtime with a dog the best amount of time? Scientists are going to keep working to find out the answer.

Big data (数据) technology has been working widely for more than ten years. Actually all activities of our daily lives have some kinds of online footprints. Both companies and persons are trying to get value out of big data.

Big data means large sets of data collected from different areas. The data then will be studied to get useful information, which can be turned into value. Areas of use of big data cover a lot of industries, such as healthcare, business services, transport, and customer services. Take a supermarket chain as an example. The chain managers study the data of thousands of customers across hundreds of stores, possibly finding hidden buying patterns. In turn, if products are properly placed, it might result in more sales.

As we shall see shortly, much of the data is produced largely in real-time. These may be cross-national online business websites with thousands of deals per minute, or social media platforms (平台) with millions of users, with more than billions of posts a day.

Besides, the big data with AI technology comes into play. Business services were able to use the information about their customers, like banking records and spending habits to spread their businesses and build new services, using big data about their customers.

In healthcare, examples are medical treatment improvement and outbreak progression (疫情进展). Firstly, big data can analyze (分析) a large amount of information, and then doctors can make some plans according to these data so that they can provide cheaper and better treatment. Secondly, it could predict outbreaks of future illness and help to reduce the influence of disease.

So we can expect more organizations to recognize the value of big data. This means that the need for experts in this field is expected to grow. What changes will big data bring to us?
