Culture TV programs have become more popular at the start of the Chinese New Year. Two weeks after the show Chinese Poetry Conference (《中国诗词大会》) ended, a new program, Readers, has stepped into our life. Literature (文学) Reading becomes popular again in China.
The weekly talk show is produced and hosted by Dong Qing. And she often invites people to read aloud parts of articles and books they like or write. People in the show also share stories from their own life. They were also given different topics in each episode. The first episode was about 80 minutes long, and its topic was "Encounter(遇见) ".
Three days after the program was shown first on CCTV-1 on Saturday, Readers got 9.2 points out of 10 on Douban, one of China's most popular review sites. Internet users have called it "a breath (呼吸) of fresh air" among all kinds of shows in China.
Through the poetic words, the readers brought the almost-lost habit of reading aloud back into our daily life, making the people enjoy the beauty of the language.
