There was a boy called Jack who lived with his mother on a farm. Jack was so lazy that he did nothing. One Monday his mother told him if he did not begin to work she would drive him out to live by himself.
He had to work on a neighbor's farm for some money the next day. However, when he got home, he realized his money was lost. "How careless you are." mother said. "Yon should put it into your pocket."
On Wednesday, Jack went out again and got a bottle of milk for taking care of some cows. Jack put it into the large pocket of his jacket. However, he sprinkled(洒)it. Mother said, "You should carry it on your head."
On Thursday, Jack worked for a farmer and got an ice cream. In the evening Jack went home with it on his head. When he got home, the ice cream wasmelted. It made his hair dirty. "You should put it in your hands, "said his mother.
The next Monday, Jack went out once more, and got a horse for his work. Jack found it hard to put it in his hands, but at last he did it. He began walking home slowly, carrying the horse with his hands. There lived a rich man with his only daughter, a beautiful but deaf and dumb(哑的)girl. She never laughed in her life, and the doctors said she needed somebody to make her laugh and speak. When the pretty girl saw Jack, she couldn't help laughing. Jack married(结婚)her and became rich later.
