"l just want a normal birthday party," April told Bailey1they walked home from school.
Bailey knew what April2. April's parents loved the 3. And because April happened to be born on Earth Day, all her4had an Earth Day theme.
Later that night, April said to her parents, "I'd like to plan own5this year."
"Sure," both of her parents6.
April cleared her throat. "I'd like to go to Maze Craze."
April couldn't wait for her birthday! She and her7would have so much fun. And they wouldn't have to think one bit about the earth.
At school the next day, April told her friends. "I'm having my birthday party at Maze Craze."
"You are?" said Bailey, "but we8do something earthy on your birthday."
The following weekend, everyone met in the parking lot outside of Maze Craze.
"Thanks for coming. I've been so9about my party. Nothing earthy about it. "
April's friends looked10. Plastic bottles lay across the ground. Newspapers and fast-food bags blocked (阻塞) the storm drain(排水沟).Shopping bags could be11seen on the streets.
"Even though I wanted a non-Earth Day birthday, I couldn't have fun12the mess was out here. Can we13the garbage (垃圾) in the parking lot first, then we go through the maze?"
"Of course!" said her friends. The kids started to work while their parents14for traffic. Before long, they had filled three bags with bottles, cans and paper to recycle. April looked at the15with smile. It felt good to do something for the earth.
"Happy Earth Day, everyone," said April.
