Tom's father and mother work in a hospital in London. So he starts to study in a middle school there. He's tall and strong and likes sports. He loves P.E. classes and often watches sports games on TV in the evening. But after school he has to go to after-school cases. He isn't quite happy aboutitbecause he can't play sports with his friends. Now he's a member of the school basketball team. He likes the game very much and often plays it on Saturday and Sunday.

Tom's grandma lives in a village near London. One Saturday she came to see him. She didn't see the boy at home. His mother told her he was playing basketball at school. So she asked his mother for the way and went to look for him in the school. She was unhappy to see ten boys paying with only one ball. The old woman asked Tom to go home with her.

"But Grandma, I... said Tom.

"Don't fight (打架) for hat old ball with them, my dear" said the old woman. "Tm going to buy a new ball for you!"
