Xia Boyu was born in Chongqing in 1949. In May 2018, after he tried four times, the1man achieved his dream of reaching the top of Qomolangma. At the same time, he 2the first disabled mountain climber to reach the top of the world's highest mountain in China.
Xia Boyu is a double amputee(双侧截肢者). On January 5, 2019, he 3the Touching Chongqing Award. It was for those role models who moved the city. He joined the Chinese mountain climbing team at the age of 25. The next year, during China's second expedition (探险)to the top of Qomolangma, 4 unlucky happened to Xia. His two legs got badly hurt. In order to save his life, the doctor had to cut them off. At last, all his5were successful in reaching the top.
Although Xia lost his legs, he did not6 his dram. In the following years, he wore artificial limbs (义肢) and started his preparations for climbing Qomolangma again. It was a long and difficult time, 7 he trained very hard.
"The most important thing in the world is persistence(坚持). As long as you keep trying and8give up, you can achieve your dream, "he said." A man with no 9like me can reach the top of Qomolangma, so what else is impossible?"
