Charity Ride
Two nurses from the north of England are going to cycle from Land's End to John o' Groats (raise) money for new hospital equipment. Joe Swain and Bella King are both nurses at Bradford Royal Infirmary in Yorkshire. The hospital (bad) needs a new running machine for the physiotherapy department, and Joe and Bella have decided to collect the money (they).
John o' Groats in Scotland is the (far) north you can go on land in the UK. Land's End is on southwest coast of England. Traditionally, the journey these two places is the longest in the UK. By road, it is about 1, 400 km.
So how long will it take Joe and Bella to cover the (area) from north to southwest?" We are hoping to do it in ten days," says Joe, "but perhaps we will need two weeks."
The two nurses (plan) the journey very carefully for a long time. They are going to do it in May the weather will be warm (they hope!) but not hot. At the moment, they (train) hard. "We cycle every day," says Bella, "and on weekends, we do a long ride—100 km or more. I'm getting very fit!"
