Not like most restaurants, Maria Restaurant in New York only provides (提供) home-cooked food by grandmas coming from all over the world for people.
Joe is a 61-year-old Italian-American and he grew up in New York. He opened the restaurant in 2007. He tried to make home-cooked meals in his restaurant to make people feel at home.
He employed (雇佣) grandmas from different parts of Italy at first, and later, he started employing grandmas from other countries like Argentina, Brazil, France and Greece. Now there are forty grandmas and one grandpa in his restaurant. Most of them came to the US with their children.
There are two kitchens in the restaurant — one for Italian grandmas to cook lunch and the other for grandmas from other countries to cook every evening. The menus in the restaurant are often changing (改变), because grandmas who work on that day decidethem.
People who eat in the restaurant think it is great. They can't forget its delicious food and comfortable seats. The most important thing is that the restaurant can always make them think of their own grandmas.
