On Dec 9, Zhao came forward on Toutiao and asked for the personal attacks to stop. She noted that she did not know that her grandmother had been confirmed as a COVID-19 patient when she v these public places. She said she does sales work at bars and went to these places as part of her j. She apologized to Chengdu's residents for causing trouble.

The bureau said that they had identified a 24-year-old man surnamed Wang who leaked Zhao's personal information. Wang received an "administrative punishment "for violating(侵犯)Zhao's privacy, China Daily reported.
